Step 1 -
Clean nursery
Germination sets the tone for the rest of your crop cycle - start with a clean slate!
The three nursery trays and humidifier water tank are removable and dishwasher safe. Spray the interior of the nursery with the provided alcohol spray and wipe with the provided microfiber cleaning cloth.
Farmshelf’s humidifier is essential for creating the high humidity needed for the best germination success.
Fill the humidifier with cool water, leaving half an inch of room at the top of the container. Place the air hose in the water, being careful not to pinch or bend the hose.
For best results, do not allow the tank water line to fall more than 1.5 inches below the top edge of the container. Never fill the container all the way to the top.
Check the humidifier every few days to make sure the water level is appropriate and the humidifier is bubbling normally. Between checks, keep the door closed so that humidity inside the nursery can stay high and consistent - your plants will thank you!
Step 2 -
Fill nursery humidifier
Fill the blue nursery bottle to the top with cool water.
With seedpods, you will receive two glass vials of liquid nutrients - one clear, one red. Add both nursery nutrient vials to the cool water in the blue nursery bottle.
With the spout secure and openings covered, gently agitate the blue nursery bottle to incorporate the nutrient vials into the water.
Distribute the nutrient water evenly across the three nursery trays, filling each tray to the top.
Add 14 seedpods to each nursery tray, ensuring the grow media is submerged in the water below.
Return each tray to the nursery - filled with nutrient water, 14 seedpods, and 1 blackout cap. Ensure that no light can reach the water inside the trays - cover any holes with a blackout cap from the starter kit. (Light in the water encourages growth of algae and bacteria! 👎)
Step 3 -
Fill nursery
trays
Step 4 -
Enable the nursery
From the touchscreen or the remote control app, enable the nursery. Once enabled, the nursery light will turn on and the humidifier air hose will begin bubbling. Make sure the door is totally closed.
Your plants need to spend the next two weeks in the nursery. (Consult the crop guide for the exact amount of time each crop should spend in the nursery!)
If your plants are moved out of the nursery before they’re ready, their chances of a healthy life are severely diminished. Don’t rush this step! Let them stay in the nursery as long as recommended.
While your seeds grow, the trays must remain full of water and the humidifier level must remain high. Top off the trays and humidifier tank every few days, checking to make sure that all grow media is still saturated and the door to the nursery is securely closed.
Step 5 -
Watch water levels 🤩
Seeing ridged, bigger leaves?
Remember: It’s worth the wait! Give your seed babies the full time they need in the nursery - about two weeks.
Consult the crop guide for details.
